I'm offering a correction to a mistake on this website. The Octagonal House in Lewisburg, at one time purchased by the Edwin Brodnaxes, was not purchased in 1865 as written here. The Brodnaxes were contemporaries of my parents and we spent lots of time in this house with their family. It would make sense that it was 1965, so perhaps this is a typo. It was the 70s when I recall spending time there.

Does the octogon house in Fiskdale, MA appear in the book? My father, Gerald Dupre was born there in 1926 when my grandfather, Forrest Dupre worked in the nearby auger shop.

There is an octagonal house in Vassalboro Maine. I pass it each day on my way to school. It is across from the Society of Friends meeting house. It looks to be from the mid 1800s.

Glad I found this--it wasnt available on Amazon so I got it from the author.
The format is so easy to access, very user friendly with the names of houses, location, info and status all available in easy, concise style.

This lady did her homework. There is an error or two but with this much information and so many of the houses gone, it is not surprising. Highly recommend you get this book if you have an interest in octagonal houses. This book has old octagon houses mentioned, both gone and still standing, I have never seen anywhere else

I picked it up Tuesday and have been leafing through it on and off. Wonderful book-now I can seek out octagons wherever I travel! I’m so glad you did this. Some of those houses are just incredible. I’ll enjoy reading it.

I was hoping someone would compile a modern book with all historic octagon houses. My book by Carl Schmidt is sadly out of date. And the internet sites just arent mobile. The Octagon House Inventory book fits my needs nicely.

As a semi professional photographer I travel to capture these incredible houses and this book is a great help in locating them as well as providing me with history on most. Nice detail with the location, year built and status on top of each town.

Well done.

The book came yesterday and I can't put it down. What a huge amount of research went into it. Its not only infomrative but fun too. I love seeing all the different variations of an octagon house. I highly recommended the Octagon House Inventory to anyone interested in historic houses.

Thanks so much.

What a treasure trove of octagon houses. My 30 yr old daughter never heard of them before and is now interested in historical architecture.
It's a very impressive book and the house on the cover is so beautiful. I cant belive later owners reduced it to one story.

The documentation is very thorough and clearly represents a lot of work. I would have liked to see more architectural drawings of the houses, but understand how hard they are to come by.
